16 The spectacle is able to subject human beings to itself because the economy has already totally subjugated them. It is nothing other than the economy developing for itself. It is at once a faithful reflection of the production of things and a distorting objectification of the producers.
Note, after much anguish we are back with a new computer. More to follow.
To the city this weekend! Hoping to see all of the NYers while we are there. Helen and I are going to see the opera L'elisir d'amore and hang out with Ruthy. Mario and Bailey are going to be in town as well, and we are hoping to connect up with Heidi and Ben as well. Hooray!!!
Jet Blue has $39 one way tickets from NYC to Portland...too cheap to ignore, so Ben and I nabbed some tickets and will be arriving Wednesday, May 13th and leaving Monday May 17th. We'll be celebrating our one-year anniversary on Saturday...so I guess we'd better start making plans. Mark your calendars!
Helen and I are slogging away at our Herculean and Quixotic art project, opening Friday at Sanctuary Tattoo. Lots of calligraphy and pen-and-ink drawings. Our hands are inky and crampy. It is an ergonomic nightmare in here. More later, when we have time. Thanks Eilidh for keeping us alive with food and company!
